Historic Hurt Building Atlanta
Historic Hurt Building Atlanta

Please come visit us in the historic Hurt Building, an iconic 18-story structure located at 50 Hurt Plaza in downtown Atlanta that boasts a distinctive triangular shape.

Constructed between 1913 and 1926, this architectural gem was the original home of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and is recognized as one of the nation's earliest skyscrapers. The Hurt Building earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, with its current interior demonstrating a blend of historic preservation and contemporary renovation. Its location also places our firm’s primary office within walking distance of the local Fulton County Magistrate, State, and Superior Courts as well as the Northern District of Georgia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Conceived and developed by the visionary Joel Hurt, a prominent Atlanta businessman, the building stands as a testament to his influence in the city's development. With architectural design by J.E.R. Carpenter, a renowned New York architect, the Hurt Building is a prime example of the Chicago School style, closely associated with the famed Louis Sullivan. Characterized by its unique triangular shape and a three-story domed rotunda, the Hurt Building showcases a blend of Beaux Arts classicism and emerging modernist aesthetics. The steel frame and reinforced concrete construction, adorned with uninterrupted marble and glazed brick, exemplify the craftsmanship of the early 1900s.

We invite you to experience the historical significance and architectural splendor of the Hurt Building by visiting our law firm located within this iconic landmark. Our offices provide a professional and welcoming environment within the rich historical context of this magnificent structure. As the first commercial office building in Georgia to achieve LEED-EBOM Gold Certification and the recipient of the BOMA 360 designation, the Hurt Building stands as a beacon of sustainability and excellence. It is the perfect place to honor the past amidst innovation and the struggle to build a better world for future generations.

The Hurt Building is a perfect home for a firm like Conway Eader. It is a setting that has not only played a crucial role in Atlanta's history but has also made appearances in popular culture, including NBC's legal drama Matlock and the 2016 crime thriller Triple 9. Parking is conveniently provided in the adjacent garage, making visiting this updated historic landmark and coming to see your lawyers as convenient as it is enjoyable. The buildings conference center is home to a variety of multimedia spaces that are suitable for all of a small firm’s needs, so whether you are holding a seminar or preparing for a deposition, we have suitable space for your needs right here in the tower.
